Meet Farah and Tas! Farah has owned and operated a Blo location in the Bloor West neighborhood of Toronto for the past 7 years. She decided to open a second location with her sister, Taz. In February 2019, they opened their new location in Leaside, a neighborhood of Toronto. Keep reading to learn more about our Toronto duo!
What did you do in your past life?
Tas: I used to work for a mutual fund company in downtown
Toronto. My role was a Service Recovery Specialist.
Farah: I used to also work for a financial services company, which I left in 2018. Now I am doing all things Blo! I also have my real estate license. Owning Blo allows me to sell houses at the same time as running a business.
What was the reason you chose Blo?
Farah: I fell in love with Blo’s concept. I was a client at
Blo for four years before I decided to open one up. I loved the feeling of
having women look and feel amazing every single day.
Tas: I was also a long time Blo client before Farah took
over Bloor West. When she did, I got more intrigued with the business and we
decided to open up Leaside together.
How is it working with your sister?
Tas: Owning the Leaside location with Farah is a lot of fun!
I feel like I’m learning from the best and we have a great dynamic. It’s kind
of like ‘good cop, bad cop’.
Farah: I actually love working with my sister. I get to
share the many successes that we have together, I get to vent to somebody if I’m
having a bad day, and she’s my biggest supporter. We support each other so it’s
wonderful working with her.
What is your role at Blo?
Farah: Day to day I handle the marketing aspect of the
business as well as recruitment. I ensure that we are fully staffed from our
receptionists to our stylists, make-up artists, and everyone in-between.
Tas: I manage the day to day operations here at Leaside.
What is the most rewarding aspect of having your own Blo?
Farah: I feel the most rewarded aspect of owning a Blo
location is the flexibility that allows me to set my own schedule and I can
focus on other things that interest me, such as selling homes.
Tas: The rewarding part for me is being a mentor to these
amazing ladies and just watching them grow and come out of their shell becoming
amazing stylists and make-up artists.
